WITH COURAGE FOR CHANGE

The Vienna Festival (Wiener Festwochen) are a unique occurrence in the European festival landscape – a stand-out project that has been picking up on, concentrating, starting and facilitating incentives in the international and national art and culture scene for decades. It initiates and drives true change time and again – actual alterations to the cityscape (such as the construction of the Kunsthalle gallery space on Karlsplatz) as well as structural transformation. That will and has to remain part of the fabric of the Vienna Festival. But change does not come out of nowhere – it needs courageous adherents, visionary mentors, strong partners and generous sponsors who join us along the way.

Join the revolution!

ART NEEDS DIVERSITY - AND YOU!

Did you know that only every thirteenth work performed by orchestras across the globe was written by a female composer? That is less than eight per cent! Even worse: only 2.1 per cent of these works are by Black composers, composers from Asia, the Near East, Indigenous or mixed origins.

We need to change that! The Academy Second Modernism gives us the frame in which to work towards giving a well-earned stage to womxn composers from all over the world. Over the course of five years, we are inviting ten exceptional artists each year to present their works together with Klangforum Wien. One performance won’t do the trick, though. Together with international partners, we are devising long-term strategies to sustainably transform the grand concert programme repertoire.

This movement needs wide support! For us to reach our goal, we need at least 200,000 Euros per year. Private sponsors play a pivotal role in that. Be a part of this change!
