The Vienna Festival (Wiener Festwochen) are a unique occurrence in the European festival landscape – a stand-out project that has been picking up on, concentrating, starting and facilitating incentives in the international and national art and culture scene for decades. It initiates and drives true change time and again – actual alterations to the cityscape (such as the construction of the Kunsthalle gallery space on Karlsplatz) as well as structural transformation. That will and has to remain part of the fabric of the Vienna Festival.
