advisory board

The Vienna Festival (Wiener Festwochen) | Free Republic of Vienna programme advisory board was established as a result of the Vienna Declaration, which demands the introduction of ‘an alternating advisory committee for the programme with local and international expert members‘. This advisory council is tasked with taking a critical look at the institution and its curation as well as adding enriching local and global perspectives. It is the intention that this will help the Festival of the Future reduce structural exclusion and open up further to the artistic and social practices of the world.

The seven members of the advisory board are experts in different artistic practices and regions of the world. Their expertise brings new, hitherto unexplored international positions to the table and sharpens the look at the city, its artists and communities. The programme advisory board will henceforth advise the artistic team of the Vienna Festival (Wiener Festwochen) | Free Republic of Vienna regarding programme design and will themselves make concrete suggestions for the programme. The Vienna Festival (Wiener Festwochen) | Free Republic of Vienna undertakes to invite at least one of these suggestions to the programme.

The members of the Council of the Republic contributed to the casting of the advisory committee, which meets three times a year.
