Vienna Declaration

In 2024, the Vienna Festival proclaimed the Free Republic of Vienna in order to radically rethink the traditional institution and democratise decision-making processes. Two of the ten demands of the Vienna Declaration - the constitution drawn up by the Council of the Republic, consisting of 80 Viennese - have now been fulfilled: The programme advisory board of local and international experts has been appointed and a transparent procedure for dealing with cancellation requests has been published.

Council of the Republic 2025

The sovereign of the Free Republic of Vienna, comprising citizens of Vienna and international guests, devised the Vienna Declaration in 2024. It will serve the transformation of the Vienna Festival (Wiener Festwochen) into a festival of the future until 2028.
