Carolina Bianchi returns to Vienna with the second part of her sensational trilogy: The Brotherhood tackles male alliances, brotherhoods and their codes that are profoundly marked by misogyny and sexualized violence.

In The Brotherhood, Carolina Bianchi examines the origins of brotherhoods and their codes, which are profoundly marked by misogyny and sexual violence. The Brazilian director and her collective Cara de Cavalo frame this investigation into the theatre world – it becomes the subject, language and apparatus to expose this violence. However, the show also acknowledges how male power dynamics can fascinate us within art history. In the first act we see Bianchi interviewing a powerful and famous director. In the second act, a group of male performers takes the stage and the piece unfolds like a trap: as Bianchi uncovers the brotherhood, she herself becomes a character who suffers the consequences of her view on this system.
After the first part of the Cadela Força TrilogyThe Bride and Goodnight Cinderella caused a stir worldwide, The Brotherhood has us reflect once more on the role violence plays in our society and the ways in which we help perpetuate it, whether we're aware of it or not.
