Carolina Bianchi returns to Vienna with the second part of her sensational trilogy: The Brotherhood tackles male alliances, brotherhoods and their codes that are profoundly marked by misogyny and sexual violence.

Last year, Carolina Bianchi caused a stir with the first part of her Cadela Força TrilogyThe Bride and Goodnight Cinderella. In part two, The Brotherhood, Bianchi examines the performativity of masculinity, the origins of brotherhoods and their codes, which are profoundly marked by misogyny and sexual violence. The Brazilian director and her collective Cara de Cavalo use the means of theatre in order to expose this violence. Why is there such empathy and acceptance for male allegiances and their allegedly community-oriented rituals? Most importantly: how might we address such structural brutality against women? In four acts, The Brotherhood reveals the connections between representation and real trauma, power structures in art and radical poetry, the origins of misogyny and sexuality in crisis.

Please note
