American director Wu Tsang and the group Moved by the Motion stage Robin Hood as a celebration of friendship and love, creating a visually expressive and fantastical experience for children and adults.
For centuries, the legendary Robin Hood – the King of Thieves – and his mottled troupe of robbers have emerged from the forest wherever injustice has occurred, and have fought on the side of the weak and the oppressed. In times of corruption and avarice, he stands up to the authorities and distributes the spoils from his robberies among the poor. Following the popular success of Pinocchio at the 2023 Vienna Festival (Wiener Festwochen), American director Wu Tsang, the group Moved by the Motion and author Sophia-Al-Maria are returning with a new reading of this story from the olden times: Robin Hood, a visually expressive and fantastical experience for children and adults that examines the political question of when theft can be just. Robin Hood is a story about the utopia of living together with each other and with nature in a just and respectful manner. It is a celebration of friendship and love – and it shows that we can fight for an alternative to our current ways of life.
