Mirela Ivičević
Biography
Mirela Ivičević, born in Split/Croatia, studied composition, multimedia composition and cultural management in Zagreb, Vienna and Graz and is a co-founder of the Black Page Orchestra. Ivičević’s work develops a patchwork aesthetic of hyperactive structures, recombining contemporary society’s textual and auditory waste in a subversive use of the narrative function of sound. Among other awards, she is recipient of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation Composers Prize and the Erste Bank Composition Award. Her compositions are presented at major venues and festivals such as Musikprotokoll Graz, Wien Modern, Music Biennale Zagreb or Donaueschinger Musiktage. In 2019 she was a fellow of the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin programme.
