The Austrian State Treaty obliges the state to ‘dismantle all organisations of fascist character’. Discrimination, such as that based on race or ethnic origin, is ‘banned and must be removed’ according to the constitution. Is nationalist extremism a danger to the regime of the state, and at the same time protected by the constitutional right to freedom of opinion? Might it even be necessary to declare the FPÖ (the Austrian Freedom Party) ‘illegal’ with immediate effect? Does Austrian reality contravene the maxims of the constitution day by day?

The detailed programme will be announced in May.
