Shasha Chen

Shasha Chen is a composer, multimedia artist and performer from China, currently living in the United States of America. She participated in festivals, concerts and exhibitions in the US, Canada, Europe and China and worked with Ensembles such as Talea Ensemble, loadbang, International Contemporary Ensemble, LIGAMENT, Ensemble Phoenix Basel, Ensemble Musikfabrik and Ensemble NEKO3. In her work, Shasha Chen utilizes compositional, interdisciplinary, and collaborative approaches within the form of 'conceptual (new) music theatre’, a form she has been consistently cultivating, to examine socio-political topics such as identity, gender, and violence.
