A performative guided tour
of the exhibition
CHRISTOPH SCHLINGENSIEF
More than 20 years ago, Christoph Schlingensief’s bold and visionary theatre already addressed themes that are more relevant today than ever. Specially developed performative and interactive approaches allow young people to engage with the exhibition’s central themes in a way that is discursive, playful and immediately accessible. The focus is on questions regarding the media’s portrayal of emotions in politics, the exploitative logic of casting formats, and polarising media representations and norms. In collaboration with theatre educator Myriel Meißner, experimental formats have been developed in which we experience ‘hands-on’ how theatre can intervene in reality and how art can open up spaces for collective action. The museum spaces are transformed into a performative stage on which pupils can actively participate and contribute their own perspectives.
