Artists and cultural institutions across the world are faced with increasing political pressure or have already been subjected to repressive measures, such as happened in Hungary, Slovakia and Serbia. The premiere of DORA or Who’s Going To Stitch the Vests was supposed to take place at the BITEF Festival, Serbia’s largest international theatre festival, in November 2025. However, after the politically appointed board censored the planned Vienna Festival (Wiener Festwochen) production The Pelicot Trial, the artistic directors resigned; the festival was cancelled and eventually took place in December as a guerilla version – supported by RESISTANCE NOW!
