Sirens, Snakes and other Sluts refers to tales told about women throughout history and mythology. Depicted as ugly yet seductive creatures, the legacy of misogynistic narratives surrounding female-read figures continues to this day. If they were to tell their own stories, what would they sound like? We lend them our voices to tell new tales and create new soundscapes in an underwater audio installation. Through a simple device (swimming goggles), we invite the viewer to immerse themselves in water that is blood red, deep red, monstrous red, menstrual red - what would move within its depths, what would become visible, what would refuse to surface? Emerging at the threshold between visibility and submersion, a sculptural intervention traces the presence of the work above water-echoes, or perhaps residues, of what unfolds below the surface.

Within the ongoing installation, guest contributions developed in the Lecture Sound, Audio and Acoustic Design (Alexander Martinz) by Rage, Lea Neckel, Janine Scheer-Erb, and Leonie Holtkamp temporarily activate the work.
The conceptual framework of Sirens, Snakes and other Sluts remains, while the sound layer shifts through these additional artistic positions. Before and after this time frame, the original sound work by Francesca Centonze and Iris Writze continues.
Take a deep dive into the Badeschiff swimming pool and immerse yourself in its waves—where sound moves differently, where language dissolves, where bodies listen.
