Night Shift in the Bar(s)

In addition to the four big Festwochen Party(s), the Festwochen Bar(s) will also spruce themselves up for long night shifts on the Saturdays during the festival. In the Volkstheater, the Bacantes DJs (performers and musicians from Marlene Monteiro Freitas’s energetic work Bacantes – Prelúdio para uma Purga) will host a Dionysian night (18 May). Ersan Mondtag, the adventurous enfant terrible of German-language theatre, whose latest work will be premiered at the Wiener Festwochen, and Irina Sulaver will host a party with electronic sounds ranging from Balkan to Oriental (25 May). In the first Night Shift in the Gösserhallen, the Viennese collective Struma + Iodine will present contemporary musical positions in aesthetic diversity (1 June). And after the premiere of Eli Keszler’s Chasing Homer, the Festwochen Bar will linger awhile in the Mediterranean region: the Istanbul duo Insanlar will immerse the Gösserhallen in their shamanistic techno-folk hybrid. The evening concludes with Walter Daniel’s complex but danceable DJ-set for mind, body & soul.
