Emanuele Coccia is Associate Professor of Philosophy at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. His books include The Life of Plants: A Metaphysics of Mixture. He is joined in conversation by the artist Philippe Quesne and conductor Emilio Pomàrico to discuss the staging of Das Lied von der Erde. Taking this as a starting point, they attempt to think about a world in a new way, a world where non-human species are the focal point, exemplars of what it means to be alive.
