Breathcore is a work by Michael Schmid, musician, performer and member of the Brussels music ensemble Ictus. It uses only human breathing as a means of expression. Participants will work on the piece in close cooperation with Michael Schmid, who sees every rehearsal and every public performance as a process of synchronous interaction, of sharing talents through non-verbal communication. Breathcore is performed without a conductor or score; it is the participants who create each performance. In a three-day workshop, the participants will work on the piece together and prepare for the performances. They will receive special training and gain insight into the work of one of Europe’s leading avant-garde ensembles.
In cooperation with the Wiener Konzerthaus, Breathcore is presented as part of Pneuma at the Wiener Festwochen.
No previous experience necessary. The workshop will be in German.
