ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN brings heaven to Badeschiff. A mirror installation on the railing of the Badeschiff reflects fragments of sky, water, city and people. It creates a perpetually changing perceptive situation that brings together different aspects of life and reality. The sky – heaven – does not appear as a threshold to the divine, but as a projection screen for cultural and religious ascriptions. What has traditionally been charged with meaning is taken apart into its visible components and returned to everyday life. The work is an invitation to observe ourselves and reflect on our own position vis-a-vis the environment, social structures and religious ideas. It questions the notion of ‘above’ and shifts the focus to look at the here and now.
