Biography

Necati Öziri, born 1988 in North Rhine-Westphalia, is a writer and dramaturg. He studied philosophy, German philology and modern German literature in Bochum, Istanbul, Olsztyn and Berlin. He received a scholarship from the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung and taught formal logic at the Ruhr University in Bochum. From 2013 to 2018, he worked as a dramaturg at Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin and was head of the Studio Я fort wo years. His play GET DEUTSCH OR DIE TRYIN‘, directed by Sebastian Nübling, was invited to the Heidelberger Stückemarkt in 2018. For Die Verlobung in St. Domingo – Ein Widerspruch, premiered at Schauspielhaus Zürich in 2019, he also collaborated with Sebastian Nübling. Necati Öziri currently leads the International Forum of the Theatertreffen of Berliner Festspiele.
