Mr. Leu Waits

© Frank Widman

Biography

Mr Leu Waits sings original texts from Tom Waits in English or pointedly translates them into German and by that aims directly into the listeners’ hearts. He also styles his own songs or the texts of his heroes Bob Dylan, Otis Redding and Nat King Cole to a moving study of his surroundings. Besides his work as a singer, Leu is also a pianist. His playing resembles a kaleidoscope of different musical styles in ever-changing variations. Genres dissolve and melt into a flood of sounds, rhythms and pure energy. Waltzing Mathilda at last is a hymn to the triumph of art over the profane, of emotion over calculation, to the victory of the fragile beauty of life.
