Lina Majdalanie
Biography
Lina Majdalanie (*1966) is a director, performer, curator, and playwright. She was born in Beirut and now lives in Berlin. In her work, Majdalanie questions citizenship, the place of the human being in public space and, more specifically, that of the body in the age of globalisation, the internet, the virtual image and the surveillance society.
Together with Rabih Mroué, they work as a directing duo at the intersection of theatre, performance and installation. They were guests at the Vienna Festival (Wiener Festwochen) in 2019 with Borborygmus. Their joint production Four Walls and a Roof was invited to the Impulse Festival in 2025.
Majdalanie has curated various projects such as Motion-Less at Tanzquartier Wien, Relatively Universal at HAU Berlin, and No One’s Land at Mousonturm in Frankfurt am Main. Her works include Second Look (2020), Sunny Sunday (2020) and Do I Know You? (2017). She has also taught at various universities in Lebanon and Europe, including HEAD (Geneva), DasArts (Amsterdam), Goethe University (Frankfurt), HFG-Karlsruhe, and the University of Leipzig.
