Biography

Laure Prouvost was born 1978 in Croix-Lille, France, and is currently based in Brussels. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Central Saint Martins and a Master of Fine Arts from Goldsmiths College in London and took part in the LUX Associate Artists Programme. She received the Max Mara Art Prize for Women in 2011, the prestigious Turner Prize in 2013 and represented France 2019 at the 58th Biennale Arte in Venice with Deep See Blue Surrounding You / Vois Ce Bleu Profond Te Fondre. The same year saw the artist’s first public commission in the UK through Transport for London’s Art on the Underground. Her work has been presented numerous prestigious museums and institutions across Europe, Asia and the US. Her most recent projects include Above Front Tears Oui Float, the inaugural Fredriksen Family Commission at Nasjonalmuseet, Oslo, We, On The Rising Wave for the Busan Biennale, a contribution to ARS22 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, Helsinki, as well as solo exhibitions at La Casa Encendida, Madrid; Atelier Hermès, Seoul; Bonnefanten Museum, Maastrich; the Manchester Jewish Museum; Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen,; Kunsthalle Lissabon, among many others.
