Ictus is a Brussels-based contemporary music ensemble. Since 1994, the ensemble has maintained close artistic contacts with Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and her company Rosas, which has found expression in 14 collaborative productions. Ictus has also co-operated with such choreographers as Wim Vandekeybus, Maud Le Pladec, Eleanor Bauer and Fumiyo Ikeda. Ictus is composed of around 20 musicians, conductor Georges-Elie Octors and a sound designer. The ensemble embraces a great variety of formats: mini or maxi concerts, mystery programmes (Blind Dates), concerts with comments or concerts “on the move” where the audience is at liberty to roam among the musicians (Liquid Room Concerts). Every year, Ictus joins forces with the Centre for Fine Arts BOZAR and the Brussels Kaaitheater to develop a new programme for a highly varied audience with broad cultural interests that oscillate from theatre to dance and music. Since 2004, the ensemble is resident at the Lille Opera, where Ictus creates a large-scale stage production on an annual basis. Together with the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent, Ictus runs a master training curriculum dedicated to the interpretation of contemporary music. The most recent performance of Ictus at Wiener Festwochen was Pneuma in 2019.
