Biography
Florian Hecker is a German musician and artist who currently lives in Vienna. Traversing performance, installation, and publications, he works with synthetic sound, the listening process and the audience's auditory experience. Since 1996, Hecker has performed internationally, both in major concert halls and festivals for contemporary electronic music. His work Inspection (Maida Vale Project) has been commissioned by BBC Radio 3 in 2016 as the BBC’s first ever live binaural broadcast. Other important works by Hecker include Formulation (FLV Project), presented as part of the inaugural exhibition at the Fondation Louis Vuitton, Paris (2014), his collaboration with Reza Negarestani A Script for Machine Synthesis at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and at the Maison de la Radio, Paris, (2015) and FAVN at Alte Oper Frankfurt in partnership with MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst Frankfurt am Main (2016). In recent years, he exhibited and performed his art at major venues in the US as well as Europe. Hecker has an extensive discography, including several releases on Editions Mego, such as Articulação Sintetico (2017), A Script for Machine Synthesis (2017), Inspection II (2019) and Synopsis Seriation (2021).
