A conversation with Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker
Overview digital gesturesAnne Teresa De Keersmaeker, the queen of dance, is currently rehearsing alone in her rehearsal room in Brussels for the world premiere of her Goldberg Variations, BWV 988. And it was there that she met up with Artistic Director Christophe Slagmuylder to talk about the impact that the unexpected isolation is having as she works on developing her solo. There ensued a conversation about disbelief, sadness, understanding, and rebellion in a time of crisis, about Bach and the other 45 to 50 pieces in her life, about the potential next step and the particularity attributed to the performing arts: the peculiarity of ‘we-share-the-same-space-and-time’.
