The opening of the Wiener Festwochen in 2023 will once again be a musical celebration for everyone – with exceptional artists, diverse, and transcending all genres. A concert that extends beyond the stage on Rathausplatz, that inspires and enthuses, that unites perspectives beneath a visual firework display on the façade of Vienna’s City Hall.
This year acrobatics meet classical music; Vivaldi meets Screamin‘ Jay Hawkins; a string quintet, break dance; poetry, flamenco; and beat boxing, chanson. Artists from all over the world are coming together for a musical-artistic festival on Rathausplatz. Each performance a little work of art in itself, like a well-assorted box of chocolates.
And so, we have quite a surprise in store for you!
“I think that every concert or theatrical event should be full of surprises. Audiences need to be captivated by what they are experiencing and should be constantly curious as to what will happen next- and this is what I’ve tried to create with the opening concert of this year’s Festwochen” Hyung-ki Joo
