David Bennent, born 1966 in Lausanne, is a Swiss Actor. The son of actor Heinz Bennent and brother to Anne Bennent never underwent professional training himself, but is an autodidact. He is most famous for playing Oskar Matzerath in Volker Schlöndorff’s film adaption of Günter Grass’ The Tin Drum. David Bennent featured in numerous film, TV and theatre productions, his engagements include the Comédie-Française in Paris, Schaubühne Berlin, the Akademietheater in Vienna, the Berliner Ensemble and the Renaissance-Theater Berlin. Together with his father he starred in a production of Samuel Beckett’s End Game which toured successfully around Europe since 1995. In 2016, David Bennent played the role of Mammon in Jedermann at the Salzburg Festival.
