Anne Applebaum

Anne Applebaum is an award-winning historian, a staff writer at The Atlantic and a senior fellow at the SNF Agora Institute at Johns Hopkins University. Her historical works include Red Famine: Stalin's War on Ukraine, Iron Curtain: The Crushing of Eastern Europe, 1944-1956, and Gulag: A History of the Soviet Camps, which won the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for Non-Fiction. Her most recent books include the New York Times bestseller Twilight of Democracy: The Seductive Lure of Authoritarianism and Autocracy, Inc: The Dictators Who Want to Run the World.
For fifteen years, Applebaum was a columnist for the Washington Post and a member of its editorial board. She was also deputy editor of The Spectator and a columnist for several British newspapers.
