Biography

Anna-Maria Hefele, who graduated from the renowned Mozarteum University in Salzburg, is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and overtone singer and tours worldwide as a soloist with different ensembles, orchestras and choirs as well as with her solo project. Furthermore, she works with multiple contemporary dance, circus, and dance theatre productions. In overtone singing, the filtering and amplification of partial tones present in the human voice gives the impression of a person singing two tones simultaneously. Her viral YouTube-video „polyphonic overtone singing“ with more than 20 million views was followed by numerous TV- and radio appearances. “A voice not from this world”, “The woman with two voices”, “Polyphonic vocalist manages the impossible” – these and the like were headlines about the exceptional musician. Anna-Maria Hefele teaches overtone singing internationally.
