Alice Birch is a playwright and screenwriter. Her script for Lady Macbeth won the British Independent Film Award and the prize of the Torino Film Festival, amongst others. Anatomy of a Suicide was awarded the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize in 2018. The German premiere of Anatomie eines Suizids (Anatomy of a Suicide) at Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg (direction: Katie Mitchell) is invited to the 2020 Theatertreffen Berlin. In 2020, Alice Birch will write a commissioned piece for Burgtheater Wien. Furthermore, she is working on film adaptions of Graham Swift’s Mothering Sunday and Sally Rooney’s Normal People.
