Ailís Ní Ríain
Biography
Ailís Ní Ríain is an Irish composer whose work comprises installation, concert music and music-theatre. Ailís is deaf/hard of hearing and a long-time advocate for better representation and access in music. Recent commissions have included RSO Wien, Musikfabrik, BBC Philharmonic and the Munich Biennale. She is Composer in Residence at Wexford Festival Opera 2025-26. A portrait album of her early work was released by NMC Recordings in 2023 to considerable acclaim. She was awarded the prestigious Paul Hamlyn Award for Composers.
