Afsaneh Mahian

Afsaneh Mahian is an Iranian theatre director. She started her professional career in 1994, after graduating with a master’s degree in Theatre Directing from the faculty of arts and architecture of Tehran’s Azad University. More than 25 years ago, she founded Shieveh Theatre Company. Her work was multiply awarded at the Fajr International Theatre Festival. Several productions were shown at international festivals around Europe, in Finland, Italy, France, the Czech Republic, Portugal, Belgium, Greece, Turkey and Austria. She is a permanent member of Iran’s Theatre House and board member of the Iranian club of directors. In 2016, Afsaneh Mahian’s play Die Anpassung / A bit more every day was on stage at the Wiener Festwochen.
