The multi-faceted and varied programme consisting of 51 productions from 23 countries is well received by the audience. Two productions are NEW IN THE PROGRAMME: Othello c'est qui and Generacija 91-95. Ili sat hrvatske povijesti.
Othello c’est qui by the artistic duo Gintersdorfer/Klaßen was selected in 2009 by an international jury for first prize at the German Impulse Festival. Othello is the single most famous black man on Western stages; in Africa, hardly anybody has heard of him: a European affair in which the foreigner is always newly re-interpreted. Monika Gintersdorfer (concept developer and director) and Knut Klaßen initiate a dialogue with Côte d’Ivoire-born dancer and actor Franck Edmond Yao and German actress Cornelia Dörr.
In Generacija 91-95. Ili sat hrvatske povijesti (Generation 91-95. Or, A Lesson in Croatian History), which is shown as part of the forum Festwochen series, the director Borut Šeparović’s stages Boris Dežulović’s satirical novel Who Gives a Damn About 1,000 Dinars Now. In the Croatian-Bosnian war, special units of both sides meet – but both platoons wear the uniforms of the enemy army as a tactical stratagem. Twelve boys from Zagreb born in the war years between 1991 and 1995 perform this fictitious story against a very real context.
