Shiva Feshareki & Kit Downes

In her work, the young British artist Shiva Feshareki manages a rare reconciliation between the frequently disparate worlds of “contemporary (classical) music” and electronic club sounds. This composer and turntable artist is currently writing her dissertation at the Royal College of Music while also working on a multitude of other projects including a large-scale orchestral work for the London Contemporary Orchestra and a commission she’s taken on together with Eliane Radigue and Lee Gamble. Alongside appearances at venues like concert halls, churches, and London’s Tate Gallery, her monthly show New Forms on web radio station NTS is a further important platform for Feshareki’s creative output. With her subtle turntable skills, she places artists as diverse as Stevie Wonder, Roni Size, and James Tenney in constantly changing contexts and allows their music to be heard in entirely new ways. At HYPERREALITY, Feshareki will be joined by organist Kit Downes to present a set developed specifically for a club festival context.
